If you know me, then you know I was completely razzle-dazzled to find this house warming present sitting on my front porch this morning. A BASKET OF JUICING SUPPLIES!! OMG — Do I not have the best aunt ever?! She even included two of her favorite juicing recipes, Pineapple Mint Goodness and Dracula’s Dream (according to her, it’s creepy, but good)!
I am so jazzed right now.
Of course, this basket will prove to be even more helpful as I prepare to embark on the Gluten Free School’s Gluten-Free Sugar Cleanse (read more about it here). Everything kicks off tonight with a tele-class at 8 p.m. ET. The actual cleanse will focus on fresh veggies, fruits (in moderation), beans, quinoa, millet and more, so this basket will be put to great use!
Speaking of the sugar cleanse, one thing I am particularly focused on is beginning to ween myself away from sugar before I begin to wipe my slate clean this weekend. Now, I have chosen to start this now because I know how I can get when I just flat out take sugar out of my diet. NOT PRETTY.
So, the point is, there might be a few mini bites of these today …
… but then it’s on a few light-on-the-sweeteners snacks until I begin the actual cleanse. Today, I decided to give these Honey Roasted Chickpeas a whirl and they turned out oh-so-nicely.
Honey Roasted Chickpeas
- 1 12-oz. can chickpeas
- 3 Tablespoons honey
- 1/2 Tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Drain and rinse chickpeas; pat dry to remove excess water.
In a medium bowl, combine chickpeas, honey, sesame oil and sea salt, stirring well. Spread mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving excess liquid in the bowl.
Roast for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown, stirring halfway through roasting time. Make sure to watch chickpeas in the last few minutes of roasting time to avoid burning.
