It's a Run-Walk Kinda Thingby caroline
Well, hello there! I am feeling rather peppy considering today was an extra early start — a good gym workout tends to do that to me! Dan is having surgery this morning, so everything on my schedule needed to get going at the crack of (not even) dawn.
I decided to take things a little easy this morning with a run-walk treadmill workout. I’ve told you before how much I love intervals when I am running on that darn continuous belt — helps keep things interesting! — and the same goes for run-walk intervals. It’s not always a pleasure to get going, but once you do the time goes rather fast.
Here’s the workout I did today:
I felt like I was giving myself an extra-special treat by slowing it down a bit today. When you don’t feel like working out, it’s always nice to be able to say, “just two minutes of running” because you know a walk interval is coming up. It does, however, always surprise me how tough a run-walk workout still is, regardless of the walk breaks. You might think you are cutting yourself a major break, but give yourself a pat on the back. Speeding up and slowing down like that really gets the heart going!
I also did some strength work, focusing on my legs today — gotta get that booty in shape! Would you be interested in knowing more about the strength exercises I do? If so, let me know in the comments section.
So, like I mentioned earlier, Dan is having surgery on his knee today … yikes. It’s bound to be a long day, but I am grateful for him that he is getting the help he needs. (More on this later.) Keep us in your thoughts and send Dan healthy energy!
