Yesterday was a wonderful day. Actually, I have to be honest, it started out quite terrible — I had piles of work to do and a splitting migraine to top it off (it was the third day in a row, so I was really feelin' it).
But I managed to get the work done and got myself together to attend a Pittsburgh Pirates game where my sister was hosting a booth for her upcoming Tortoise & Hair Pittsburgh 5K run and 2-mile walk to benefit the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Amanda has had alopecia areata and decided to combine her passion for running with her want to help other people who suffer from the autoimmune skin disease.
The form of alopecia Amanda has presents itself in round bald patches that often appear on the scalp (alopecia areata). It's been a long journey for Amanda, the girl who grew up with a full head of hair and loving every minute of it, but she's come out of it smiling.
We also had a chance to see Amanda's PSA up on the JumboTron (made by my brother, Luke)!
The evening turned out gorgeous (they were calling for rain!) and the walk across the bridge was breathtaking. I couldn't help but sneak a few photos:
Happy day everyone! Squeeze someone you love today. ♥
